Los Angeles: October 31, 2024 – A Los Angeles Police Academy graduation ceremony was held this morning at the LAPD Administration Building plaza.
Today’s ceremony featured 26 graduates. Three will be officers for Los Angeles World Airports, and one will be for Los Angeles Port Police. All recruits have completed 920 hours of training over the course of 24 weeks. In eager anticipation of receiving their diplomas, the recruits proudly stood before Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, Department command staff, city officials and hundreds of spectators.
Chief Beck enjoys and greatly looks forward to attending graduation ceremonies. As always, he emphasized during his speech that being an LAPD officer is all about character, which is instilled in each graduate through support from family and friends. He also reminded them about the importance of never breaking the law to enforce the law, a cornerstone of behavior he expects from all LAPD officers.
Recruits will be expected to spring into action almost immediately, as many will be deployed in the field at their respective LAPD divisions beginning as soon as Sunday, November 2. Upholding long-standing Department traditions at the end of the ceremony, recruits vigorously recited their class chant and tossed their caps high into the air, symbolizing their triumph at the academy and the promise of success as LAPD’s newest officers.
Police warn that all users of ATMs, which is just about everyone, should protect their PIN by covering the PIN entry with their second hand. “Shoulder surfing can happen any place where debit keypads are used to enter PINs, like at convenience stores,” Lt. Vernon explained. “I’ve seen situations where disreputable employees have installed cameras over keypads to capture PIN keystrokes at transactions.”

Stephanie Walley is described as a 63-year-old white female with brown hair, blue eyes. She stands 4 feet 11 inches tall and weighs around 170 pounds.
The investigation commenced after several of Miller's players reported being secretly recorded on video in Miller's residential bathroom. It was also brought to the attention of detectives that there were possible minors involved. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that all parties currently involved were adults.
The victims are contacted by the first suspect, a Chinese female, who claims to be a psychic and offers to tell the victims their fortune free of charge. After the initial contact is made, two additional suspects approach the victims and say that they had their fortune told by the first suspect and that she is someone to take seriously. In one instance, the “psychic” told a victim that her son would be in a fatal car accident and that to avoid such a tragedy, she should perform a blessing. The primary suspect then asks the victim to gather cash and valuables to be blessed by her. The victims are told that the blessing service is also free and that the victims keep their belongings with them. Once the victims bring their belongings, the “prayer service” is performed and the victim’s property is placed inside a bag. Once the victim is distracted, the suspects switch the items for bottles of water. Victims are told not to handle the bag for a few days, or the blessing will be ruined.
