Van Nuys: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's Major Crimes Division are seeking the public's help in identifying vandalism suspects.

On August 28, 2020, at 11:00 p.m., approximately 50 protesters, wearing masks and dark clothing, gathered at Tyrone Avenue and Delano Street. The protestors chanted anti-police chants and circled the police station. Several suspects from within the group removed the American flag from the flag pole in front of the station and set it on fire. Other suspects within the group then spray-painted anti-police slogans on the walls of the station in various areas of the courtyard.

Several individuals within the group walked out of the courtyard and surrounded a marked black & white police vehicle occupied by uniformed LAPD officers. They began hitting the vehicle with an unknown hard object and blocked the vehicle from driving away. Officers were eventually able to reverse out of the area and, upon inspection, observed damage to their vehicle.

The group fled on foot into the surrounding neighborhood and were last seen near Hazeltine Avenue and Oxnard Street around 1:00 a.m.

Los Angeles: On August 31, 2020, around 6:50 p.m., a police sergeant was exiting a parking lot at the Los Angeles Police Department's Metropolitan Station in the 2700 block of Temple Street. He was driving an unmarked police SUV. As the sergeant pulled out of the parking lot on Benton Way, a male suspect threw a glass jar candle at his front windshield. After the jar hit the windshield, the sergeant stopped and saw the suspect standing in front of a residence. The suspect fled into the residence and a perimeter was established.

Elvis Ayala, 38-years-old, was taken into custody and booked for 245(c) PC, Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Police Officer. Ayala is being held, without bail, at the Metropolitan Detention Center due to a parole hold.

Fortunately, the sergeant driving the SUV was not injured during this incident. The damage to the vehicle is seen in the below photograph.

Major Crimes Division will be handling the investigation. Ayala is the suspect of an additional incident at the Metropolitan Police Station which occurred on August 20th, 2020. During that incident, Ayala threw a metal candlestick at a large Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) vehicle. The candlestick caused a dent to the rear of the vehicle.

**The following information is based on a preliminary and ongoing investigation, which continues to evolve as investigators interview witnesses, review physical and electronic records, and analyze forensic evidence. The Department's understanding of the facts and circumstances may change as additional evidence is collected and analyzed**

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department's (LAPD) Force Investigation Division is investigating an officer-involved shooting (OIS) that occurred in Southeast Division.

On August 24th, 2020, around 5:20 p.m., LAPD Southeast Area Gang Enforcement Detail (GED)officers responded to a radio call of gang activity, possibly with a handgun, to the rear of an apartment complex located in the 300 block of East 99th Street. As officers arrived at the rear of the apartment complex, 19-year-old Kwame Page ran north toward 99th Street. When Page reached the front courtyard of the complex, additional GED officers had arrived on 99th Street and an OIS occurred. Page was not struck by gunfire and ran back to the rear of the complex where he was taken into police custody.

A handgun was found at the scene and was collected by detectives. Page was booked for 29800(A)(1)PC, Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person.

LAPD's specialized Force Investigation Division responded to the scene and interviewed witnesses and supervised the collection of evidence by the Forensic Science Division. A representative from the Office of the Inspector General responded and monitored the scene investigation.

The complete investigation will be reviewed by the Chief of Police, the Board of Police Commissioners, and the Office of the Inspector General to determine the thoroughness and accuracy of the investigation and whether the use of deadly force complied with LAPD's policies and procedures. Additionally, representatives from the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office will review the subsequent FID investigation; evidence collected and witness statements to determine if the force used by the officer was reasonable.

Koreatown: The Los Angeles Police Department's Olympic Area is requesting the public's help in locating Dora Henriquez.

Dora was last seen on August 29, 2020, around 10:00 a.m., in the 800 block of South Kenmore Avenue. Dora is known to frequent the area of Vermont Avenue and James M. Wood Boulevard. Dora's mental condition is poor, and she suffers from Parkinson's disease and dementia. Dora's family is concerned for her safety and safe return home.

Dora is described as a 71-year-old female Hispanic with gray hair, brown eyes, and a small build. She stands 5 feet tall and weighs 110 pounds. Dora was last seen wearing a brown shirt with black line print, brown jeans, gray tennis shoes, and carrying a white cloth bag with flower print.

Los Angeles: On August 27, 2020, around 4:30 a.m., a Fatal Hit and Run occurred at Wilshire Boulevard and Alvarado Street.  As detectives conducted their investigation, they were able to obtain information that lead to the identity of the driver and vehicle.

On August 27, 2024 around 9 p.m., Central Traffic Street Racing Taskforce located the driver and vehicle in the 2000 block of 39th Street.  The driver, 72-year-old Ramiro Vincente Torres of Los Angeles, was arrested for 20001(a) of the California Vehicle Code, “Felony Hit and Run.”

Torres is currently housed at the Metropolitan Detention Center with bail set at $50,000.00.

Los Angeles:  Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Traffic Division are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in a fatal hit and run traffic collision.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and transported the pedestrian to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.  The victim is described as a 35 to 40-year-old female Black.  Los Angeles Coroner’s Office will attempt to identify pedestrian and release her identity once next of kin has been notified.   

The truck has a bed liner with a dark stripe or molding on the side.  The vehicle may also have front end damage on the grill, front bumper, and hood.  There is no suspect description.

Drivers are reminded to drive at a safe speed and if you become involved in a collision, you should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify yourself.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. Beverly Crest: The Los Angeles Police Department’s West Bureau Homicide detectives are investigating a house party that resulted in a shooting leaving one man dead and another seriously injured in the Beverly Crest neighborhood of Los Angeles.

On Wednesday, August 26, 2020, around 2:30 a.m. LAPD West Los Angeles officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 2200 block of San Ysidro Drive.

The officers arrived and were directed by witnesses into a residence where two victims had suffered gunshot wounds. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and determined one adult male victim dead at the scene. The second shooting victim was transported to a local hospital where he is in stable condition.

The LAPD learned the location is a short-term rental and there had been a party with about 25-30 people in attendance. The victim had a possible gang dispute with another male Black, wearing dark clothing. The suspect shot both victims and left the location on foot. There were no previous radio calls at this location.

The LAPD will be at the location throughout the day conducting their crime scene investigation. San Ysidro is closed to all traffic.

Los Angeles: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division are asking for the public’s help in identifying felony hit and run suspects.   

On August 14, 2024 around 7:40 p.m., the victim later identified as, James Stokes, was crossing southbound on Vernon Avenue at Harvard Boulevard. Stokes was struck by a black Honda Civic traveling at a high rate of speed. The driver of the black Honda Civic fled the scene eastbound on Vernon Avenue without identifying themselves or rendering aid as required by law.   

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and transported the victim to a local hospital in critical condition.  

Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

After several days of collabortive effort between the Los Angeles Police Department and the community, Hollywood Area Robbery detectives announced the arrest of two suspects involved in the below incident. On August 20, 2024 Carlton Callway (DOB 4/23/91), was arrested in Bakersfield for Assault with a Deadly Weapon (ADW) with a hate crime enhancement. Willie Walker (DOB 1/2/78) was arrested in Los Angeles for extortion on August 19, 2020. Detectives are still looking for Davion Williams (DOB 1/15/98).

On Monday, August 17, 2024 at approximately 2:15 a.m., the suspect approached the victims and offered to buy them merchandise at a store at the 6500 block of Hollywood Boulevard. The suspect refused to pay for their merchandise and the victims left.

Later, the suspect approached one of the victims with a metal bar and demanded her shoes and bracelet. In fear, the victim complied, the suspect grabbed her by the hand, and they walked together for a short distance before she was able to escape.

A short time later, the suspect assaulted one of the original victim's friends with a bottle and knocked her to the ground. Both victims are transgender women, and the suspect made derogatory remarks about their status during the crime.

The suspect is described as a 25 years-old male, Black, black hair, brown eyes, standing at 6 feet tall, and weighing approximately180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black tank top, black shorts.

The Los Angeles Police Department is aware of a disturbing video capturing a portion of an interaction between an individual and two uniformed officers in the City's Hollenbeck Area. We discovered this video the same day that the interaction occurred and took immediate action.

The incident occurred April 27, 2025 when two uniformed officers responded to a radio call of a trespassing suspect in the 2400 block of Houston Street. At that location the two officers made contact with a male trespass suspect and directed him to leave the private property. During the course of the investigation a physical altercation occurred between the suspect and one of the officers, resulting in the officer receiving minor injuries to his hand. The suspect had abrasions to his head and face but refused medical attention.

A uniformed supervisor responded to the scene and initiated a preliminary investigation consistent with the Department's reportable use of force protocols. A community member who reportedly witnessed some portion of the altercation provided the supervisor with a copy of a cell phone video taken. Upon review of the content of the cell phone video and the involved officer's body worn video, the supervisor notified his commanding officer and investigators of the Internal Affairs Group responded to conduct a personnel complaint investigation.

The trespass suspect was released from custody from Hollenbeck station pending further investigation.

A formal complaint investigation has been initiated by Internal Affairs Group due to the serious nature of the alleged misconduct. At the direction of the Chief of Police the investigation involving the force used by the officer will be investigated by the Department's Force Investigation Division.

The LAPD closely scrutinizes all uses of force, as we hold every officer to our high standards. While we are withholding judgement on the actions of the involved officer at this time, the officer has been assigned home pending further investigation. Additionally, the Department has notified the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, Justice System Integrity Division who is monitoring this investigation as well as the Department's Office of the Inspector General.

El oficial en su día libre, que después fue identificado como Oficial de Policía II Jimmy Soliman, No. de serie 39370 asignado a la división West Los Ángeles, dijo que mientras estaba adentro de su casa, oyó ruidos afuera. Wilshire: The Los Angeles Police Department's West Traffic Division detectives are asking for the public's help in providing any information that would lead to the identification and arrest of the driver involved in a hit and run traffic collision that severely injured a woman.

On May 23, 2020, around 9 p.m., West Traffic officers responded to a hit and run traffic collision that occurred at La Cienega Boulevard and 3rd Street. A vehicle traveling southbound La Cienega Boulevard struck a pedestrian walking westbound in the north crosswalk at this intersection. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and render aid or identify themselves as required by California law. The investigation is still ongoing.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and transported the victim to a local hospital in serious, but stable condition. Although, she suffered severe injuries, her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The public should be aware that individuals who are involved in a traffic collision must stop at the scene, provide their identification, and render aid. Failing to do so is a Felony and carries the possibility of significant time in prison.

Pacoima: The Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Division detectives are asking for the public's help in providing any information that would lead to the identification and arrest of the driver involved in a hit and run traffic collision that killed a 54-year-old man.

On May 22, 2020, around 9:30 p.m., an unknown vehicle exited the parking lot of a local grocery store and proceeded to travel southbound through the north/south alley east of Remick Ave, north of Osborne Street when it collided with a pedestrian in the alley. The driver of the vehicle then negotiated a left turn from the alley onto eastbound Osborne St, failing to stop to render aid and provide identification as required by law.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene. The victim is a 54-year-old, male. His name will not be released until next-of-kin has been notified.

The public should be aware that individuals who are involved in a traffic collision must stop at the scene, provide their identification, and render aid. Failing to do so is a Felony and carries the possibility of significant time in prison.

Robin Deanne Melton was last seen on May 17, 2025 at 8:30 a.m., in the 7900 block of Capistrano Avenue in the city of Los Angeles and has not been seen since. She suffers from dementia and has trouble remembering things. She was last seen in her wheelchair that she uses to move about.

Robin Deanne Melton is described as a 59-year-old white female with brown hair and hazel eyes. She stands 5 feet 7 inches and weighs 150 pounds. She was last seen wearing a green shirt, black pants, and gold shoes.

Mr. Shad Gaspard was last seen by a Los Angeles County lifeguard on May 17, 2020, around 3:40 p.m., as he swam in the Pacific Ocean approximately 50 yards from Venice Beach in the county of Los Angeles. When last seen by the lifeguard, a wave had crashed over Mr. Shad Gaspard and he was swept out to sea.

Muriel is described as a 44-year-old female Hispanic with black hair and black eyes. She stands 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs approximately 160 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black shirt, dark blue/gray shorts and black shoes. Muriel has epilepsy and has the mental capacity of a 5-year-old.

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department's (LAPD) Force Investigation Division is investigating an Officer-Involved-Shooting (OIS) that occurred Thursday afternoon.

On May 14, 2020, around 12:43 p.m., Southeast Area patrol officers responded to a radio call of shots fired in the 700 block of W. 123rd Street. The Person Reporting (PR) called on behalf of her neighbor, who stated her son had a gun and was attempting to kill her daughter. Upon arrival, the officers set up containment and made contact with the suspect over the phone. While speaking with the suspect, the officers learned that he was armed with a gun and had fired a round into a door inside the residence. In addition, the suspect was refusing to allow his sister to exit the location.

The suspect eventually exited the location armed with a revolver and an OIS occurred. The suspect was struck by gunfire and succumbed to his injuries at scene.

No officers were injured during the incident and a loaded revolver was recovered at the scene.

LAPD's specialized Force Investigation Division (FID) responded to the scene and began interviewing witnesses and collecting forensic evidence. A representative from the Office of the Inspector General and the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office also responded and monitored the investigation.

Los Angeles: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's Central Traffic Division are investigating a hit and run traffic collision that resulted in the death of a 67-year-old man.

On May 13, 2020, around 3:50 a.m., officers responded to a hit and run traffic collision at the intersection of Main Street and 47th Place. Preliminary investigation determined the driver of a light-colored sedan, traveling northbound on Main Street, struck a pedestrian crossing Main Street in a marked crosswalk. The pedestrian was then struck by another unknown type of vehicle traveling southbound on Main Street. Both drivers fled the scene without identifying themselves or rendering aid to the severely injured pedestrian.

Los Angeles City Fire Department paramedics responded to the location and pronounced the male victim dead at scene. His identity has not been released pending notification to next of kin.

Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

The City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund in April 2015. A reward of up to $25,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender's identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.

Melissa Barrios was last seen on May 1, 2020, around 10:20 a.m., near the 900 block of Menlo Avenue in the City of Los Angeles. She hasn't been seen since and her family is concerned.

Melissa is described as a 30-year-old female Hispanic, black hair, brown eyes. She stands around 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighs around 180 pounds. She was last seen wearing all dark clothing.

Los Angeles: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's Robbery Homicide Division, Robbery Special Section, are seeking the public's help in providing any information that would lead to the identification and arrest of a bank robbery suspect.

On December 18, 2019, at approximately 1:20 p.m., a bank robbery occurred at the 700 West Olympic Boulevard in Los Angeles.

The suspect entered the bank and presented the teller with a note. The teller complied with the suspects demands, who then fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect is described as a Male, possibly Hispanic, 6'0, 180-200 pounds, and 23-26 years old. He was wearing a long sleeve shirt, sweatpants, and a blue surgical mask at the time.

Suspect Arrested for Selling Covid-19 Test Kits Not Approved by Federal Drug Administration

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department's Commercial Crimes Division, Intellectual Property Crimes Unit (IPCU), announce the arrest of a suspect for selling Covid-19 test kits that have not been approved by the Federal Drug Administration.

On May 12, 2020, around 2:00 p.m., the Los Angeles Police Department's Commercial Crimes Division, Intellectual Property Crimes Unit, in collaboration with Homeland Security Investigation (HSI) served a search warrant near the 800 block of Broadway Avenue in the city of Santa Monica. Detectives arrested Ying Lien Wang, 39-years-old, for selling Covid-19 test kits that have not been approved by the Federal Drug Administration.

Investigators conducted three undercover buys and surveilled the suspect before her subsequent arrest for a violation of 17500 Business and Professions Code-False Advertising. The suspect sold her products on Craigslist. None of the Covid-19 test kits recovered had been tested to meet United States safety standards and could pose a risk to anyone using them. Investigators recovered 61 non-approved Covid-19 test kits. There will be additional pending charges are for 109920 Health and Safety Code.

On Sunday, May 10, 2020, around 9:39 p.m., a 2020 McLaren 600LT was traveling eastbound on Huston Street at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control. Driver then ran off the road and collided with a stop sign and a tree on the northeast corner of Huston Street and Carpenter Avenue.

The driver of the McLaren exited the vehicle and attempted to leave the scene but was stopped by citizens who came to render aid. No other vehicles were involved in the collision.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and transported both parties involved in the collision to a local hospital for medical treatment.

The passenger, a 25-year-old male was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The identity of the passenger is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Drivers are reminded to obey the rules of the road and to drive at a safe speed. Speed kills and reckless driving puts other innocent bystanders in danger as well. Van Nuys: The Los Angeles Police Department's Van Nuys Division have arrested two suspects wanted in connection with a felony battery.

On May 1, 2020, around 10:20 a.m., two suspects entered a local store in the 5700 hundred block of Sepulveda Boulevard, in the city of Van Nuys with no mask on. The two male suspects were confronted about not wearing masks within the retail store. When they refused to wear a mask, they were escorted out of the store.

As they approached the exit, one suspect, suddenly without provocation, turned and punched a store employee, causing him and the suspect to fall to the floor. While on the ground, the store employee broke his left arm. A fight erupted between the two suspects and store employees.

The two suspects were shortly arrested on the same day for Felony Battery and their bail was set at $50,000.

Pacoima: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department are asking for the public's help in providing any information that would lead to the identification and arrest of the suspects involved in a fatal shooting.

On May 9, 2020, at 10:45 p.m., Foothill Area Patrol officers responded to a radio call of an "Assault with a Deadly Weapon Shooting" at 13200 block of Cornelius Street in Pacoima.

Upon arrival officers observed the victim laying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. He was unconscious and not breathing.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded and pronounced the victim dead at scene.

Operation Valley Bureau Homicide was contacted and assumed responsibility of the investigation. Detectives interviewed witnesses who stated the victim was standing in front of the residence when a dark colored Sedan approached.

The passenger and driver exited the vehicle and shot multiple rounds at the victim striking him several times. The vehicle fled in unknown direction.

The victim, Davon Pledger is a 26-year-old male, from Van Nuys.

Winnetka: The Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Division detectives are asking for the public's help in providing any information that would lead to the identification and arrest of the driver involved in a hit and run traffic collision that left a 36-year-old male with severe injuries.

On May 1, 2020, around 10:45 p.m., officers responded to a severe injury hit and run that occurred at Winnetka Avenue and Roscoe Boulevard. A motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Winnetka Ave passing Roscoe Blvd, when it collided with a gray jeep Cherokee, which was making a left turn from northbound Winnetka Ave into westbound Roscoe Blvd. After the collision, the driver of the Jeep Cherokee stopped the vehicle momentarily.
The driver then fled the scene failing to render aid and exchange information as required by law. The motorcyclist was injured as the result of this collision.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and transported the victim to a local hospital in stable condition.
