It looks like the numbers for homocide, rape and robbery are going to surpass 2005! I wonder what the 'spin' is going to be for this one?
If I can quote an outstanding American hero, "I love it, God help me I love it so!" (General Patton).

How can robberies go from 9,637 last week to 9,629 this week?
Posted by: David | September 27, 2024 at 04:43 AM
David, the numbers are month-to-month annualized, which is a somewhat deceptive way to report these stats.
The reality, for example, is that robberies are up 54 percent since July 2005, when the LAPD first started reporting these statistics to the public. Robberies climb in each and every one of these Compstat reports.
It's now reaching epidemic levels, and the LAPD seems to have no plan to deal with the runaway increase in robberies. The so-called "Ski Mask Bandits" have robbed over 50 restaurants in the Valley within the last two years. They hit a restaurant every other week, and the LAPD seems powerless to stop them. Restaurant owners in the city are now in a near-panic. Restaurant attendance is way down. Revenue is way down.
What is the LAPD doing about this crime wave? Apparently nothing. When the press has asked Bratton about the crime wave, he just pretends he hasn't been asked or talks about stats that have nothing to do with robbery.
Meanwhile, LA continues to be victimized in this robbery explosion.

Perhaps the Department and the Police Commission should stop beating down it's Police Officers for being proactive!?! I and some of my fellow Offiers will still keep proactively hunting down these predators, but not all of my fellow Officers are feeling the same motivation. Some have been burned and I don't nessisarly blame them for doing the less confrontational Police work. If you chase a gang member and God forbid you use foul language or have to go hand to hand with the scumbag and bust his nose open, your treated like a lepper! I don't care if I get questioned about my use of force, because if I have to smack some degenerate in the knoggin during a full fluid fight. But some arm chair Police Officer or Chief who has NEVER been in a real fight in his or her life is going to tell me what I should have done? I would chalenge them, respectfully, to get into a patrol car in southcentral (Newton, 77th, Southeast or even north in Rampart or Hollenbeck) at night on a Friday or Saturday with a hard working P-II, not some boot licker, but a grunt P-II?!? You can continue put hard working guys on the desk if you like, but you are only making the city less safe! Because there are going to be less and less of the types of Officers that will get out of their Police cars and chase the bad of the bad. So stand by, and your numbers are going to continue to go up, I hear it everyday. Coppers are going to play hide and seek for 2 grand a week! And the ones that don't, like me, are going to have a Teams II that has a permanent red flag on it. Hell, we have coppers and 7 & 12 old children getting shot by gang members with AK-47's and we STILL DO NOT HAVE RIFLES IN EVERY PATROL Car!?! The majority of us LAPD Officers will even pay for the rifles ourselves at a huge savings to the tax payer, but there the paper work lay, on the Chiefs desk, waiting for another child or Police Officer to be killed before it's signed! The city leaders and the Chief have decided that the lives of our children and Police Officers do not count to them! At least not as much as the numbers game does. It's not to late for our Chief to act like a Chief of Police and not a lap dog for the 1 term Mayor. Chief lets take back this city from the predators, NOW!
To all my fellow Worrior Coppers,
Stay Safe,
Ed O'Shea

ITS GOING TO HAPPEN!
The murders are going to surpase last years numbers. Robberies have already done so. So much for the Chiefs dream. If the department would just wake up. We need aggressive cops to lower the crime rate. Good, honest, hard working aggressive street cops. Chief, if you want crime to go down stop holding us back. Im telling you cops are not going to be hard on crime when they have a unfair complaint and discplinary system hanging over their heads. if the violent crime rate goes above last years maybe you should be investigated for neglect of duty. Duty to the citizens in this city. You have the duty to bring crime down and the power to let the street cops do their duty. Every chance i get i will go to the point of the unfair system in which we work. Cops are leaving for better treatment. Why don't you see this.
I learned from the military that as you rise in rank so does the demand for the administration of justice. Yor own cops are asking for it. Fair justice. Leaders on this department have the power to enforce obedience. And that in itself is a bad motivator. When officers are threatened with complaints, and disciplinary action on a daily bases, what do you think they will do when they make an honest mistake. I have no doubt they will try and run, get away with it out of fear of harsh discipline. So as result of this system cops are leaving. Who could blame them. the leaders on this depatment need to take a lesson from" the art of war", treat your subordinates as they were your beloved sons and daughters. As result they will be willing to go all the way with them to stop the spread of crime. It is a bad sign when honest mistakes are hibitually sought out and brought to sacrifice for every concievable mistake. If this department is a zero defects show and punishes every mistake, they are discouraging innovation, risk taking, and many other disirable action, one being aggressive on crime!
