Wow, the crime numbers look really good for LAPD this year, thus far. I think thats great considering that LA failed to meet their recruiting goals last year.
Hey, can anyone tell me if the rumor is true that the Mayor stated at an LAPD graduation that he's going to give new recruits $5000 and laterals $10000 to join the LAPD?
Not a bad deal, but I think that the mayor should concentrate on his current LAPD officers, instead of only gaining new ones. I left the department over a year ago, because I felt that the LAPD was way too political, I hated the complaint process, and they didn't pay enough.
I know that current LAPD officers are still leaving the department in droves to greener pastures, departments that pay more, are closer to their homes, and have better benefits.
I think that if LAPD trully wants to increase their numbers, they have to focus more on their current officers, not just their new ones. BTY, I served under both Bratton and Parks, and believe me, the Parks era was HELL... I hated him, and I hated going to work while he was the chief, and I still hate him as a person for still trying to menddle into police business. I think he should but out of everything and anything that has to do with Police work. Good luck to all of you Officers that decide to stick it out in LA. I'm pretty happy here in the OC!!!
