Anyone with information is asked to call the West Valley Homicide Detectives Scott Crowe or Brad Roberts at 818-374-7721. On weekends or during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at 1-877-LAWFULL (1-877-529-3855).
If this is a homicide, this is the first of many. We have to be wary that our population is getting older, law enforcement is getting more advanced, as well as forensic technology. Therefore criminals will target the elderly more and more in the future. Elderly people are more likely to be alone, not receive visitors as much and are not as capable of putting up a fight. They are also more trusting and easier prey for con artists. This gives suspects more time inside the residence to stage the crime scene to look like a natural death and can be overlooked by law enforcement officers. Be aware and be congnizant of these facts. The FBI has some statistics regarding elderly crime and if we can get some of their training; especially the staged crime scenes that were later discovered to be homicides, then we will be one step ahead in the battle.
