standby when financial disclosure kicks in....with no gang or narco coppers around, i think crime will be on the up again.

So what is the Deployment plan to keep crime down in 2008?

The deployment plan? Rob Peter to pay Paul. That's what they've been doing for the past three years.

I saw the catch phrase "Best Practices" in there again. I think Chief Bratton should read the letter to the editor section of this months blue line. That Pacific GED SGT hit the nail on the head with that one. LAPD cops are the best a tracking down and arresting the criominal element, but are hammpered by an outdated and cumbersome booking process and not to mention endless reams of worthless paper work. Every other department in southern california has a better booking process than we do and probably much less paper work to do for each arrest. Not to mention if you use force, a simple wristlock results in a 7 page narrative because some suspect complains his wrist hurts. Chief Bratton talks a big game when he uses the term "best practices", but really all we engage in is the "best consent decree" practices which are overwhelming and unnecessary. If the taxpayers knew how ineffcient this department was comapred to many other agencies in the state, there is no way they would approve a tax hike to pay for more officers.
