Class 8/10 Graduates
January 28, 2025
Friday, January 28, 2011-The Los Angeles Police Department welcomed twenty nine new men and women to the Los Angeles Police Department. Since 1931 men and women have marched across the police academy field to join one of the most highly recognizable law enforcement agencies in the world.
You will never hear Chief Beck deliver a rubber stamp speech nor will you see written notes before him. He always delivers his speech to the officers straight from the heart. Chief Beck talks to them as if they were his own children. Chief Beck expresses how he will look after them and support them through their journey. He tells them how proud he is to have them as members of his family.
One value the Chief will express to his new officers is how important character is. Chief Becks states “I cannot give you character, that comes from your upbringing but I do require it. I require that you demonstrate honest, ethical behavior in all your interactions. I will ask a lot from you and I require a lot from you.”
Chief Beck ended his speech with welcoming and congratulating the new officers to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Chief Beck was excellent on the 28th with his very moving speach to the new Police Officers. My son was one of the graduate and I was very impressed with the sincerity of Chief Becks address. I am very pleased to have my son working for such a great organization as the Los Angeles Police Department. Semper Fi to all the LAPD family. #7185
