• The Board of Police Commissioners began the meeting by observing a moment of silence for Detective Jesus “Jesse” Ravega who was killed in a traffic accident on Friday, September 2, 2011.
• Police Commissioner Alan Skobin attended the Jack Webb Awards, which was hosted by the Los Angeles Police Historical Society, in which he and his wife were honored to accept an award.
• Assistant Chief Earl Paysinger expressed his condolences over the recent passing of Police Officer Chris Eilers, who was last assigned to Mission Area, and on the passing of Detective Ravega.
• The Executive Director’s report, dated September 9, 2011, relative to report of appeal hearing panel following official police garage hearings relative to RFP 09-980-003 OPG service area 4 (Hollenbeck) after recommendation of qualified vendor, as given by Executive Director Richard Tefank, was approved. Mr. Tefank informed the Board he was comfortable in the contract and process and comfortable with the system for selection they have in place. He finished by saying there was no new information made available which would change the deal.
• The Department’s report, dated September 1, 2011, relative to request for payment of reward offer on City Council File No. 06-0010-S22, was approved and transmitted to the Mayor and City Council.
• The Department’s report, dated August 30, 2011, relative to transmittal of the grant report for the 2011/2012 Juvenile Justice Crime Prevention Act (JJCPA) program, was approved and transmitted concurrently to the Mayor and City Council.
• The Department’s report, dated September 6, 2011, relative to supplemental police account second quarterly report (April through June 2011), was approved and transmitted to the City Council and City Controller.
