Suspect Wanted for Vehicle Thefts in Surfing Community
Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department, West Los Angeles Area is asking for the public's help in identifying suspects responsible for vehicle thefts at Will Rogers State Beach.
On May 1, 2025 around 10:30 a.m., a victim parked his car on Pacific Coast Highway and Sunset Boulevard with his keys on the wheel wells. When victim returned, he found his car missing from his parking spot. It is common practice for surfers that frequent the area to leave their car keys accessible on their wheel wells. Criminals have taken advantage of this practice by locating the hidden car keys and using them to steal victims' cars as well as their cell phones, wallets, and purses. Surfers and other beachgoers are advised to stop this practice to avoid further crimes.
Several of the thefts have resulted in credit cards being stolen by the suspects. Based on surveillance footage retrieved, images of one potential suspect have been gathered.
The suspect is described as a female Black. She stands around 5 feet 6 inches tall with a thin build. She was seen wearing black framed glasses.
Anyone with information, or who recognizes the suspect, is urged to call LAPD's West Los Angeles Auto Detectives at (310) 444-1571 or (310) 444-1505. During non-business hours or on the weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (877-527-3247). Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477). Tipsters may also contact Crime Stoppers by texting to phone number 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S on most keypads) with a cell phone. All text messages should begin with the letters "LAPD." Tipsters may also go to LAPDOnline.org, click on "webtips" and follow the prompts. Tipsters may remain anonymous.
