Chief Beck: Has any consideration been given to doing away with the Commander Rank (an unnecessary level of LAPD beauracracy) & the Jacobs Plan (for newly promoted supervisors and managers) to take affect at the beginning of the new fiscal year 7/1/2010? It seems like a no-brainer that these two simple fixes could save the Department a significant amount of money, which could go towards hiring much needed civilian support personnel.

The layoff process was not dignified. Telling peoplple regardless of their rank, to come into a meeting at the PAB auditorium and letting them know "today is your las day" was not respectful. Although i do understand the termination of CPA and PSW was necessary for the budget we expected a bit more from you. It wasn't handle appropiately and I sure hope with other civilians who are laid off you are more tactful.
