Chief Beck podcast on Domestic Violence Awareness
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Chief Charlie Beck, women leaders, and business leaders came together today at City Hall and announced the “Domestic Violence Partnerships.”
The “Domestic Violence Partnerships” is a new initiative that ensures, for the first time in our City’s history, that every LAPD division will have a designated domestic violence coordinator and will be partnered with a domestic violence advocacy group.
Coinciding with the public awareness campaign of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Verizon Foundation announced their Hopeline project in the City of Los Angeles to collect used mobile phones to distribute to victims of domestic violence.Blue Shield Foundation also announced grants made within the City and County of Los Angeles to domestic violence groups and shelters over a two year period. The Foundation awarded grants to 11 organizations within the City.
Chief Beck stated, “We all have come together as partners to give resources to families which has made a difference in their lives. By doing this, it has improved the quality of life in the City of Los Angeles.”
