So, the LGBT community gets its own Community Police Academy?? I recently read that a major university conducted a study and found out that the gay/lesbian community only makes up 3 percent of the population in the United States. Study after study shows the same results. So why does 97% of the population have to give in to the other 3 percent? Now I have nothing against gay/lesbian officers and I have worked with some that I consider outstanding officers. However, it seems like many from this community don't want equal treatments, they want preferential treatment.
I am so sick of the LAPD's quest for political correctness. I am sick of seeing our Recruiting section having recruiting expos for gay/lesbian, females, Hispanic, etc. How about we just try to recruit the most qualified regardless of their race, preferences, etc.
I feel that in our department's quest for political correctness/multi-culturalism, that it is splintering officers into different groups. We don't need different clubs/organizations based on an officers race or background. We already belong to a fantastic organization called the LAPD. It doesn't matter if an officer is black, white, hispanic, gay/lesbian, or a martian; we all wear LAPD blue. Lets stop looking at our differences and just look at us as all the same (LAPD) with everybody being treated equal.
