A segment on Judge Judy today (11/25/11) is something the police commission should investigate. Here is a summary:
The defendant complained that unlike in years past when his party security included off-duty LAPD officers, the LAPD actually shut down the party when the plaintiff's security people worked. That suggests the presence of off-duty LAPD officers at the defendant's other parties enabled him to circumvent the law. This is the noise ordinance that his neighbors expected the LAPD to uphold when they were called to the defendant's residence about excessive noise the night of the party. As a resident of Los Angeles, I'm very concerned that people like the defendant use LAPD (off-duty) to dissuade other LAPD (on-duty) from pursuing residents' complaints about a law violation. The LAPD Police Commission should investigate this practice so that residents can expect the police to act on their behalf in keeping the peace.

Sandy,
No offense but doing an investigation based on what was said on the Judge Judy show is like doing an investigation based on comments made on the Jerry Springer show. Not very credible.
