Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department Hollenbeck Homicide detectives are asking for the publics’ help in providing any information that would lead to the arrest of a suspect who killed 29-year-old Emmanuel Vargas.
On June 7, 2012, around 3:20 p.m., Hollenbeck officers responded to radio call of a shooting in the 400 block of S. Boyle Avenue. When officers arrived they found Vargas in the roadway suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Vargas was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives believe that the victim and his friend were waiting for another person in front of the victim’s apartment building when the suspect, armed with a handgun, walked towards Vargas and opened fire striking him multiple times.
The motive for the killing appears to be gang-related.
