Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department Topanga Area has been experiencing a burglary trend where suspects are targeting Asian and Middle Eastern communities.
The suspects target single family residences and look for the following:
- Slippers or shoes by the front or back door.
- Asian symbols or pottery displayed on the façade, porch or in the landscaping.
- Expensive cars.
- Suspects look at mail in mailbox to confirm it's an Asian or Middle Eastern household.
It is recommended that community members:
- Pay attention to their surroundings and report any suspicious activity or unusual people in there neighborhood
- Place their slippers or shoes inside the house or out of public view.
- Purchase an alarm and/or surveillance system.
- Purchase a mailbox that locks.
