Fatal Shooting in North Hills

North Hills: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Bureau Homicide are asking for the public's help in providing information that will lead to the arrest of the suspect responsible for the murder of 29-year-old Alfredo Linares, a resident of North Hills.

On December 6, 2017, around 8:55 p.m., Mission Area uniformed patrol officers responded to a radio call of an "Ambulance Shots Fired," in the 8700 block of Langdon Avenue in North Hills. Upon arrival, officers observed Linares laying on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was unconscious and unresponsive.


Los Angeles City Fire Department paramedics arrived and transported Linares to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Preliminary investigation revealed Linares was standing in front of an apartment complex when a dark vehicle stopped. A suspect exited the vehicle and exchanged words with Linares. The suspect shot Linares multiple times, re-entered the vehicle, then fled south on Langdon Avenue. The suspect is described as a male Hispanic. There are no further details at this time.

Skirball Fire Evacuation Update

Los Angeles: As of 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening, residents in portions of the Skirball Fire Evacuation area will be allowed to return home. Roscomare will be open from Mulholland to Sunset for residents only. You will not be able to drive west from Roscomare into neighborhoods from Mulholland to down to Bellagio. Linda Flora, Moraga and Lower Casiano will remain closed. Bellagio will be open to residents only, however you can only access roads to the South from Bellagio. Bell Terrace and North Casiano Roads will be open to residents. Please bring proof of residency if you are trying to access these areas.

Stolen Lifeguard Truck

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department Pacific Division Auto Theft Detectives are asking for the public's help in providing any information that would lead to the location of stolen Los Angeles County Fire Department Lifeguard Truck and the arrest of the suspect(s) responsible for its theft.

On December 5, 2017, between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., an unidentified suspect took a Los Angeles County Lifeguard truck from Dockweiler Beach. The vehicle is described as:

Red 2015 Toyota Tacoma, Exempt License Plate: 1423393, Vehicle Number: "F2527", "ADM1" on the bumper and upper cowling.

Executive Director’s Report, dated November 21, 2017, relative to the request for approval of proposed change of majority ownership of Hanks’ Wilshire Tow, Inc., S & J Tow, from Steve Smith to Richard Reeves, contract no. Assistant Chief Beatrice Girmala gave the Report of the Chief of Police. Chief Girmala extended her thoughts, support, and prayers for the first responders and residents of the Creek Fire in Sylmar. She provided a year to date update on Part I crimes.

Young Man Killed in Boyle Heights Shooting NR17365rh

 

Boyle Heights: The Los Angeles Police Department Hollenbeck Homicide Detectives are asking for the public's help in providing information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect responsible for the murder of Javier Muñoz.

On December 5, 2017, around 12:50 p.m., Hollenbeck patrol officers responded to an alley located in the 3500 block of E. 6th Street in the City of Los Angeles. Mr. Muñoz was walking in the alley when he was struck by gunfire multiple times.

Los Angeles City Fire Department Paramedics responded to the location and transported Mr. Muñoz to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

There is no suspect description and the motive for the shooting appears to be gang-related.

Man Fatally Shot near Recreation Center NR17364rh

 

Sylmar: The Los Angeles Police Department Valley Bureau Homicide Detectives are asking for the public's help in providing information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect responsible for the murder of 34-year-old Roberto De La Cruz, a resident of Sylmar.

On December 5, 2017, around 12:35 p.m., Mission patrol officers received a radio call of an "Ambulance Shots Fired," at Kester Avenue and Parthenia Street, near a recreation center. Once the officers arrived they saw Mr. De La Cruz laying in the middle of the grass area. He was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso.

Los Angeles City Fire Department Paramedics responded to the location and pronounced Mr. De La Cruz dead at scene.

OVB Homicide Detectives were notified and responded to the scene. Upon arrival, Homicide Detectives assumed investigative responsibility. There were no witnesses that observed the actual shooting. Witnesses heard six shots and at least one witness observed 3 male, Hispanics wearing dark clothing running away from the park in a westerly direction.

Burglary Suspect Caught on Video NR17362dm

 
 

 

Los Angeles: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's North Hollywood Division are seeking the public's help in identifying a burglary suspect.

Between November 28 and December 03, 2017, a suspect wearing a scarf and a Santa Claus hat knocked on the front door or rang the doorbell of residences in Studio City. When no one answered the door, the suspect would gain entry to the backyards of the homes, smash a rear patio sliding door or back window, then enter the homes. Once inside, the suspect removed cash, jewelry, safes, and firearms before leaving. A get-a-way driver has been seen in a dark sedan.

The suspect is described as a 18-25 year old male Black. He stands 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs around 140-160 pounds and has a tattoo along his right jaw line.

Robbery Suspects Prey on Elderly Man

Los Angeles: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's Rampart Area are seeking the public's assistance in identifying two robbery suspects.

On November 22, 2017, around 7:40 p.m., a robbery occurred in the 600 block of Alvarado Street, at a business.

The victim, an 84-year-old male entered the business to purchase canned food. While shopping two female suspects approached the victim. At which time, suspect 2 reached inside the victim's rear pant pocket and grabbed his wallet. The victim reached around and placed his hand over his rear pant pocket to hold on to his wallet. The victim struggled to keep his wallet, suspect two overpowered him and took his wallet causing him to fall to the ground

Suspect 1 is described as a 25-year-old Black, female with black hair with blue braids. She was seen wearing a black jacket with blue Adidas stripes, gray pants, black and white sandals, carrying a brown purse.

Suspect 2 is described as a 25-year-old Black, female. She was seen wearing a red long sleeve shirt, black pants and was carrying a light-colored purse.

Homeless Man Stabbed to Death

Los Angeles: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's South Bureau Homicide are seeking the public's assistance in identifying a suspect responsible for killing a man.

On November 7, 2017, around 6:30 p.m., Leonidas Solano was in the area of 83rd Street and Vermont Avenue when he stabbed. Preliminary investigation has determined Solanos was talking to the possible suspect moments before he was stabbed. The motice for the stabbing is unknown.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and transported Solano to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.



The suspect is described as a male Hispanic or Black. He stands 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs approximately 160-170 pounds. He was wearing dark clothing and a shirt covering his face.

Detectives Seek Additional Victims of Sexual Assault Suspect

 

Los Angeles: On November 12, 2017, patrol officers from the Los Angeles Police Department's 77th Division arrested Jose Rene Pimentel, a resident of Los Angeles, for rape.

On Sunday, November 12, 2017, at 12:15 a.m., the victim hailed what she believed to be a yellow taxi after leaving a bar near the area of Vermont Avenue and Pico Boulevard. Once inside the vehicle, the victim told the driver (Pimentel) to take her to her residence. Instead, Pimentel drove her to Flower Street south of 84th Place and parked his vehicle. Pimentel forcefully sexually assaulted the victim. The victim managed to escape and requested help from a nearby citizen who contacted the police. Officers responded and Pimentel was taken into custody. Pimentel told officers he works as a bandit taxi driver. He drives a faded 2007 Toyota Prius Yellow Cab.


Detectives have provided Jose Pimentel's photograph in case there are additional victims of unreported incidents.
