Los Angeles: Los Angeles detectives have released the names of three men arrested over the weekend for a robbery and other crimes perpetrated while disguised as police officers. A victim provided a license plate number to a Crown Victoria used in the crimes. Each man is being held on $150,000 bail.
Police officers arrested 41-year-old Andre Rennell Hadden on Friday, February 2, just after midnight, when Newton Police Station officers spotted the wanted black Crown Victoria parked in the 7-11 parking lot at Figueroa Street and Adams Boulevard. Identification cards found in the car led police to Jeron Desmond Jackson, 26, and John Bernard Shepard, 29.
A Hispanic food vendor in his fifties reported that two Black men had seized $200 from him in South Park, located at 51st Street and Towne Avenue, on January 29, around 10 PM. The two men were dressed in police uniforms and issued the vendor a citation for illegal vending. The same two men returned to the park on February 1, around 6 PM, and tried to shake down the same vendor, who wrote down the license plate of the Crown Victoria.
The Crown Victoria resembled an unmarked car used by police detectives. It has flood lamps on the side and a metal partition between the front and rear seats. Police now believe the ring has been operating for at least two weeks, and detectives are hoping other victims will come forward.
The ring tended to focus on Hispanic victims, hoping their cover would be more believable to persons less accustomed to contact with local law enforcement and victims less apt to report a crime to police.
Once the suspects were arrested, officers discovered a .45 caliber Glock handgun, police citations books from the State of Michigan, police uniforms, ballistic vests, police radio scanners, and a list of LAPD radio frequencies.
Photographs of the three men will be released tomorrow after they are arraigned in court. Detectives do not want to taint witness and victims' ability to identify the suspects' photographs by releasing the photographs prematurely.
Anyone with information is asked to call Newton Street Detectives Joseph Harris or Michael Smith at 323-846-5363. On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at 1-877-LAWFULL (1-877-529-3855). Callers may remain anonymous.
So what is the difference between these guys and the real cops!!!! Both steal from the community they suppose to serve!!!

That was a funny statement "The ring tended to focus on Hispanic victims, hoping their cover would be more believable to persons less accustomed to contact with local law enforcement and victims less apt to report a crime to police". Hell Hispanics, and Blacks are the most accustomed to being stopped by the police for no reason!! What a false statement!!!!!LOL

The comments made by a person with the spurious title of "lacopwatch" doth make my heart proud. The Newton Officers and Detectives who solved this caper worked long hours with no rest. The more people we stop in Newton the better...there is plenty of PC here...Oh, PC means "Probable Cause'" not "Politically Correct."

Which one COPWATCH.ORG,
PHOENIX COPWATCH, BERKLEY COPWATCH, REEDLEY COPWATCH, AUSTIN COPWATCH,
NEW BRUNSWICK COPWATCH, AND ON AND ON AND ON. People are getting tired of police abuse and misconduct and cops need to be reminded that you work for us, we do not work for you.
We teach people to observe and report police misconduct and abuse and not we do not support violence. I do see any anarchy going on there might be a few uneducated members but they are being trained and educated. What I do see is fascism in our government!!!!!!

One of the greatest police misconduct investigators has a site called POLICEABUSE.ORG and some of you old timers know him as Don Jackson now known as Diop Kamau. I you cops need to check out his site and learn from the screw ups you cops keep doing over and over again.

lacopwatch, are you the one that claimed an officer took your ovaries? Which complainant are you? Shouldn't you take a poll? While brave people are making decisions and putting themselves out there, making decisions, you only criticize. Now, when we do the right thing, it gets published and yet.... you still complain. So, your choice would be to let everyone out of prison because they are all innocent? Allow child molesters access to children? Ignore pleas for help from the community because cops do more harm than good? What is your pro-active solution to crime, gangs, drugs and guns? Let me guess, take away more legal guns to that the ones that come accross the border with tons of cocaine will have more control? Eliminate the criminal justice system because you know better than any jury? What is a solution????? Got any???????

Oh, I think COPWATCH and Ron would love for us to live in a society where PD is armed with stun sticks that can only be utilized after "effective communication and negotiation techniques" have failed with the bad guys. Yeah, buddy, let's see how long you last in a society with no effective law enforcement, and the police are hamstrung when it comes to using any type of force to deal with criminals...oh, wait - we're almost there now, thanks in no small part to your continued sniveling, whining, and complaining about people doing a job that you have almost no understanding of, and absolutely no experience with (at least not from anywhere except maybe the back seat of a patrol car, in cuffs...).

Don Jackson is liar and a provocateur. Jackson and his conspirators would drive around at night a purposely commit traffic violations in front of the police. If they were stopped they would then act combative and 415, hoping to incite the police into a use of force. Oh did I mention they would videotape the confrontation then edit it to their liking. Don Jackson is a liar who will someday cause a police officer serious injury.
