Publics Help Needed to Identify Armed Suspects

Los Angeles: Detectives are asking the public's help in identifying two robbers, who's images where captured on video, trying to rob a convenience store clerk at gunpoint.

On February 22, 2007, at around 7:30 p.m., two suspects walked into Lee's Market in the 4800 block of Avalon Boulevard, posing as customers. After a short time one of the suspects took an item to the counter and attempted to pay for it with a counterfeit $100 bill.

The second suspect then walked up to the counter and pointed a blue steel handgun at the the clerk and demanded that clerk give him a different $100 bill. After the clerk was unable to produce another, the suspects ran from the store.

"The photos are very good and any acquaintance of these individuals would be able to easily identify them," Sergeant Lee Sands said. "We hope someone will step forward and provide the information Detectives need to locate and arrest these dangerous suspects."

The robbers were described as Hispanic men, between 5'7" and 5'10" tall, weighing between 190 and 220 pounds, and were in their early 20's. The suspect who presented the counterfeit bill is distinguishable by his Mohawk style haircut.

Anyone with information is asked to call Newton Area Detective Howard Jackson or Officer Rocky Rodriguez at 323-846-6572. On weekends or during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at 1-877-LAWFULL (1-877-529-3855).
