Stabbing Victim Dies

Los Angeles: An 18-year-old Gardena man died late Saturday night after being stabbed multiple times.

On February 3, 2007, at approximately 10:55 p.m., Daniel Contreras was at a party in the 16000 block of Estrella Avenue.  He left the party with Derrick Newsome, 24, of Hawthorne to walk to a nearby liquor store. Contreras had not walked far when he was repeatedly stabbed.

Newsome was booked for murder and is being held on one million-dollars bail. The motive has not been released.

Paramedics transported Contreras to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
