Commission President Matt Johnson opened the meeting and a quorum was established. Consent Agenda Item was unanimously approved. There were no police commission comments.
Chief Charlie Beck stated there were a couple of events that took place over the weekend. The first event was the Cesar Chavez breakfast that has taken place for the past seven years. The event was well attended by more than 100 Latinos representing the community, including Commissioner Figueroa and Commission President Johnson. Chief Beck also participated in a joint event with the Los Angeles Fire Department; a fundraiser for St. Baldrick’s which helps with cancer research for children. The event involved the shaving of officers and fire fighters heads. Chief Charlie Beck then provided some general crime statistics covering the second week of March 2016. Geographically, there was an increase in crime in Central and South Bureau, and a reduction in crime in Valley and West Bureau. Chief Beck reported the Department has 9,905 LAPD officers, 2,693 civilian personnel, and 7,410 cadets in the youth program.
One of the reasons for the downtown crime being a issue is due to the fact a duel is in effect.
The Los Angeles Police Department has sensed people who agree to be supportive for there freedom more than in the past.
The people are enforcing to the Los Angeles Police Department they are only a business in the land of the free and the brave.
I think we all can get this point and understand where I am going with it, right?
