FROM A FRIEND/SUPPORTER

William J. Bratton
Chief of Police
Los Angeles Police Department

Dear Sir:

This letter is a long time coming and I apologize for the delay. I want to say "thank you" to all the men and women of the LAPD. I was born and raised in Southern California and moved to the northwest 10 years ago but stay tuned to what is going on in my beloved home state. Your officers have such a dangerous job in an incredibly dangerous city and I don't think they hear enough thank you's from citizens. We certainly hear about the negative from the media but there isn't balanced coverage of the positive things about your department. I want all of you to know that despite what you hear and see on the streets you are very much appreciated. You should be proud of the job you do and the courage and patience it takes to interact with the citizens is inconceivable to me. I know I couldn't do it.

When your officers lay their heads down on their pillows each night please be proud of what you did today. Please wake up knowing you are heroes and without you life would be pretty terrifying. God Bless each and every officer in this country and especially in the LAPD.

Again, thank you so much for the years of protecting and serving me and my family.

Most sincerely,
Elizabeth Cox

Mrs. Cox, Thank you for your kind letter and thoughts. It's people like you that remmind us why this job is so great. Reading your words and hearing the sincerity in them put a smile on my face and I am sure it will every Officer that reads it. So again, thank you.

I am greatful for a lifetime of entertainment enjoyed and much of it originating from California, especially Los Angeles. Would the creative endeavors of all those thousands have been possible without the tireless work of the LA Police Department? I don't think so. That is my only connection with LA. Consequently, the men and women who serve in the area Police Departments of Los Angeles have been in my prayers lately. Here is today's prayer dedicated to them.

Dear Heroes and Heroines,

Thank you for all that you do to protect the people and property of the City of Los Angeles, California.

In the Name of Jesus, and by the Authority of the God of the Israelites, I pray for protection and empowerment that only the God that led Moses and his people across the desert for forty years could do. By this same God's authority, I pray for miraculous solving of cold cases, miraculous recovery of missing persons; I pray for each officer to be in the right place at the right time to prevent crime and help the youth take the road to what is right before those who are evil can influence then to take the road which is wrong. I pray that this same God watch over and protect these brave officers, their co-workers in other LA City Departments, their family and friends. I further pray that a powerful anointing of grace and redemption so cover the entire city limits of Los Angeles, Los Angeles County and all of its surrounding counties that everyone will know that only the God who invented love, who was, is and always will be and who created and watches over one and all could only have wrought such an event. It is a little thing for such a God.

Great letter!!!

Wow, great letter. Very well written. I'm not as articulate but in simple terms, you LAPD people rock! You folks do great work and yes, you are very much appreciated. She is right, you don't hear enough thank yous from the public.

So thank you for what you do. Keep up the good work.

Thank you for the letter. We don't hear it enough...in fact hardly ever. Most people hate us until they need us because they got a ticket or hear all the negativity about the LAPD in the media. Thanks again...people like you keep us going.

As a Police Officer for the LAPD and as a woman, I would like to thank you for such an inspiring thank you letter. I'm sure I speak for my fellow Officers when I say that caring people like you are the reason we Officers continue to serve this wonderful city. Thank you for letting us know we're appreciated.

SouthEnd P-3, you need to hear it more. Most people don't hate you. Quite the opposite, in fact. I know 10000 people myself in Los Angeles County who pray for good for law enforcement and soldiers, who hold good thoughts and love in their hearts and minds for you and for your families. What are you doing in your off time? Turn off your television and come spend time with us.
